My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Istanbul across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, September, October — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Istanbul in June 2023 and was surprised by how quiet the Grand Bazaar felt before peak season hit. Best months average 25°C, with only 30mm rainfall and 85% sunny days, making June, September, and October ideal. I warn you: avoid water taxis near Sultanahmet in summer; vendors routinely overcharge tourists by 300% for basic trips.
