My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for New York across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
USA · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: September, June, April — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Central Park in April 2023 and was surprised by how early the cherry blossoms peaked, covering the walkways in pink before mid-month. April averages 11°C, sees 80mm rainfall, and offers 60% sunny days, making it ideal with lower hotel rates than June. I learned April street festivals cause gridlock on main avenues, delaying transit for hours despite clear weather.
