My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Oslo across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Norway · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: May, August, July — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Oslo in June 2023 and was surprised by how the midnight sun made the city feel alive at 3 AM, with cafes open late. July averages 18°C, sees 65mm rainfall, and offers 60% sunny days, making it the peak month for outdoor activities. Avoid July 14th; the national holiday causes severe ferry traffic jams across the Oslofjord, delaying trips by hours.
