My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Plovdiv across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, April, September — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Plovdiv in April 2023 and was surprised by how few tourists were there while locals celebrated the spring festivals in the old town. April averages 12°C, 62mm rain, 68% sunny days, and costs 30% less than July. Avoid tourist taxis; they often charge double the meter rate after 8 PM, a hidden cost guides never mention.
