My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Amsterdam across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: August, July, May — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Amsterdam in May 2023 and was surprised the tulip fields near Keukenhof were still blooming past mid-month, not fading by early April as I'd expected. July averages 22°C, 55mm rainfall, 55% sunny days, and costs €120 daily excluding flights. Avoid touristy canal boat tours; the cheapest ones often skip the main canals, forcing you to pay extra for a proper route.
