My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Cancun across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: February, December, January — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Cancun in February 2023 and was surprised by the unusually calm sea conditions during my snorkeling trip, avoiding typical winter chop. February averages 26°C with 30mm rainfall and 80% sunny days, costing €50/night for a decent hotel. I warn that many hotels add a €15-20 daily resort fee to breakfast, not shown in initial quotes.
