My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Florence across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, October, May — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Florence in May 2023 and was surprised by the early olive harvest starting in the countryside, not the typical June schedule. June averages 27°C, sees 45mm rain, and has 70% sunny days; a basic gelato costs €2.50. Avoid June for the Sant'Anna festival – streets near the Duomo shut down completely for days, blocking access to key sites without warning.
