My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Venice across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Italy · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: June, April, October — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Venice in April 2023 and was surprised by how clear the canals looked compared to summer, with fewer tourists blocking the views. Best months: April (avg 15°C, 75mm rain, 55% sunny days) and October (avg 18°C, 60mm rain, 60% sunny days). Beware: gondola rides require tipping beyond the posted fare, a cost most guides omit.
