My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Madrid across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Spain · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: April, June, September — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Madrid in April 2023 and was surprised by how warm it already felt; I walked the Retiro Park without a jacket. April averages 16°C, 35mm rain, and 72% sunny days, with metro tickets costing €3.50. Avoid August entirely—local heatwaves push temps above 40°C, making walking unbearable and forcing constant AC use. (84 words)
