My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Munich across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Germany · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: August, July, May — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Munich in May 2023 and was surprised by the sudden cherry blossoms along the Isar River, not the usual tourist season. Average May temperatures hit 15°C, rainfall totaled 68mm, and 62% of days were sunny, costing around €120 for a hostel bed. My warning: Oktoberfest tickets sell out by March, causing massive hotel price hikes in September even if you don't attend.
