My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Porto across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, February, April — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Porto in April 2023 and was surprised by how empty the Ribeira district felt compared to summer, with just locals enjoying the cafes. April averages 14°C, sees 70mm rainfall, and a meal costs around €35, making it ideal before peak season. Beware of the tram line 1 crowds near São Bento station in summer; it's often packed well before 10 AM, causing long waits.
