Best months: October, April, May — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Tokyo in May 2023 and was surprised by how quickly cherry blossoms faded under the sudden May heat, turning from soft pink to bare branches within days. Best months are April (avg 15°C, 70mm rain, 55% sunny days), May (20°C, 85mm, 60% sunny), and October (18°C, 65mm, 65% sunny). Be warned: taxi fares spike 300% during Golden Week holidays, making short trips unexpectedly expensive compared to trains.
