My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Bologna across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, April, September — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Bologna in April 2023 and was surprised by how early the almond blossoms lined the streets before the tourist crowds arrived. Average April temperatures reach 14°C, with 65mm rainfall and 60% sunny days, making it cheaper than summer (€90-€120/night). Avoid April 25th; the Liberation Day parade causes major road closures near the university, blocking taxi access for hours.
