My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Novi Sad across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.

Best months: June, April, October — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Novi Sad in April 2023 and was surprised by the city's sudden cherry blossoms lining the Danube promenade, not the expected spring green. April averages 12°C, sees 65mm rainfall, and offers 65% sunny days; a basic meal costs around 5 EUR. Avoid July as the EXIT festival floods hotels with 200% price hikes, a trap many guides omit.
